The Simple Woman's Daybook…

FOR TODAY …  August 24, 2009

Outside my window… the rain is quietly falling and the skies are dark.  When I listened to the weatherman last night he said we were through with the rain and that we would be getting some “fall-ish” weather this week.  Guess he wasn’t on target with that forecast!

I am thinking… that I haven’t been eating really well these last few days.  It has been so hot that I have not felt like cooking…or even being in the kitchen.  I need to get back in the habit of eating three meals a day!

I am thankful for… friends that care about me and worry when I am not doing well.

From the learning rooms… am practicing my chart reading skills with a new pattern that I finally have decided is going to be my very first shawl.  It is DROPS design 98-21 Shawl with Leaf Pattern.  Plan on making it in Sereknity Yarn and Fiber Sock Options Perfect Sock in the Rock Lobster color.

From the kitchen… nothing to share unless peanut butter and cheese crackers counts.

I am wearing… a tee-shirt and black shorts and am barefoot!

I am creating… a baby gift!  The shower is on Saturday and I hope my project will be finished.  If not it is going on needles!

I am going… to try and get caught up this week on all my e-mail.  Between the heat and my stubborn allergies I haven’t kept up with all my e-mail…and I am afraid I will lose my blog friends from making them feel neglected.

I am reading… Too Late To Say Goodbye by Ann Rule.  She is a really interesting writer and really does a lot of research for her books.

I am hoping… for a break in the weather – my allergies just have about had it this summer…(sorry, if I sound like I am complaining…)

I am hearing… the voice of Ina Garten on the Barefoot Contessa; the sound of the fan running; and Killian snoring. (yes, he snores!)

Around the house… I want to go through some boxes in order to get some things ready for a garage sale on September 12th.

One of my favorite things… reading…it has really taken off this past year…and I am averaging a book every four or five days…there is just something about reading that brings me happiness.

A few plans for the rest of the week:  make a doctor’s appointment; finish the baby gift; finish a quilt top; and get some paperwork done.

Here is picture thought I am sharing…
