The Simple Woman's Daybook…

FOR TODAY… January 18, 2010

Outside my window… it is turning dark as evening creeps in.  The snow is beautiful and the roads are clear.

I am thinking… this has been a wicked week!  Friends and dogs have moved; it was different to see my old house empty; and, I’ve been working on organizing my life and things.

I am thankful for… for everything and everyone in my life!

From the learning rooms… still working with my weaving and learning more about it.  Plus I’ve been experimenting with some knitting ideas and stitches.

From the kitchen… I’ll be honest – I’ve haven’t been eating very well – the only decent meals I’ve had have been when I went out with Scarlett and Elizabeth and a couple pizzas that I ordered to be delivered.  Haven’t been in the mood to get it going in the kitchen.

But, yesterday I went to the grocery store and bought a few things – to complete meals – and made a menu for this week.

I am wearing… black sweat pants and a pink tee-shirt from the quilt guild I belonged to in Florida.  Socks and no shoes!

I am creating… a quilt pattern based on the style of  Piet Mondrian but of my own design.  Think his work is awesome.

I am going… to go see Mother on Thursday – they say the day is going to be bright and sunny – and no snow.  I don’t do well driving in snow – especially when it comes down at me – it is sort of mesmerizing.

I am reading… Mortal Danger by Ann Rule.  She really does a lot of research on her books.

I am hoping… that I will be able to go on vacation this year and see my daughter and friend, Ann.  Have to get my fear of flying back under control

I am hearing… Food TV in the background.  Seems I watch that a lot.  You would think I would want to cook everything they are showing.

Around the house… I have been in a spring cleaning mood and it’s not yet spring.  But, I have this urge going on to organize and re-distribute the wealth (meaning donate the clothes that don’t fit and the books I’ve read)

One of my favorite things… is rice pudding and I found a new recipe I am going to make tomorrow.

A few plans for the rest of the week:  quilt, read, knit, make some rice pudding, cook decent meals, and see Mother.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing…

Some pretty yarn…
