June Randoms…

The end of June – it certainly went by pretty darn fast!

1)  The exercise program has done well – Since I last posted I’ve added 64 miles to my fitness challenge…So, my total is:  229.5 miles

2)  I’ve read a total of 8 books – and at least three of them were donated and out of my house!  I’m also reading the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich – they are so funny.  My friend, Marilyn has the entire set and I’ll be starting on the sixth one soon.

3)  I’m getting some more quilting done – I’ve been to the quilt store a couple of times this month for open sewing.  It’s nice to have a place to go and work on a project and be around others.

4)  The knitting is really coming along – I’m trying to work on projects for our Craft Fair in November…mostly I’ve knit a bunch of hats.  But, have a few other ideas for projects.

So, I’m ready for July to show up!

I have to tell you asthma is a pain in the neck.

No, I’ve not had any more trips to the hospital – thank goodness!

But, I am now doing nebulizer treatments – and I have to say I am feeling that they are helping a lot…

And, today, my nurse came by.  He will be coming by every three months to check on me and to see how I am doing with the nebulizer treatments.  Today, in addition to getting all the paperwork done, he checked my blood pressure, listened to my lungs, and took my oxygen saturation reading.

Before he left – he left that oxygen saturation machine with me.  I have to wear it tonight when I sleep…it will give them a reading of how much oxygen I get over a long period of time.  I think it will be a really interesting test…

That’s it for tonight…see you tomorrow!

Quilt Guilds…

Last night I didn’t get home in time to head out to my Cornish Quilt Guild…but, today I managed to get to the guild that meets at Four Pines Quilt Shop.

We made pillowcases tonight – they are donated to our local homeless shelter at Christmas time.  One of our members showed up with five cases already done.  Another member sent two.  And, we made 17 during our two-hour meeting!  So we have a total of 24 so far.

Yesterday, I went to the ENT doctor – and my date for allergy testing is August 16th.  I can’t wait.

Thirty-five Years Ago Today…

I gave birth to the most wonderful little girl.  She was tiny – only five pounds which she quickly lost to 4 pounds.  And, she was long…

A C-section kept me in the hospital for five days – and each morning at 5:00 a.m. they would bring my little daughter in…Neither one of us were morning people … cause each day, she would  cuddle up on my tummy and I’d wrap my arms around her and we would sleep.

She stayed another five days after I was sent home…it was a horrible feeling to have to leave the hospital without her… but, every day I would be there sitting in the nursery rocking her for hours. On the tenth day, she came home.

She has been the light and love of my life from the day she was born.  And, I continue to love her more and more with each passing year.

I am proud of the woman she has become…

Happy Birthday, Tara Danielle!  We love you so very much!

Easy Sunday…

Today was an easy day – I chose not to do a lot except run a few errands.  The grocery store for some hot dogs; K-Mart for some cat litter (had a dollar coupon – and they had the best deal!); and Taco Bell because I was craving a Taco Supreme.

Cooked out on the grill for dinner tonight – fixed hot dogs and corn on the cob.  It was so good.  I shared the hot dogs and corn with a couple of other residents – and they shared macaroni salad with me.  For dessert we had watermelon.

Tomorrow is the day I head to the allergist…and I’m a bit nervous.  I’ll let you know how I fare on Tuesday or Wednesday.

New Scarf…

Last night I cast on some yarn for a new scarf.  I was thinking of adding it to my basket of things to sell – but, I really liked it when I was finished.  So, it is going to be mine…

Yarn:  Patons Pebbles

Color:  10023 – Sandstone  Dye Lot:  111787

46% Acrylic, 45% Polyester, and 9% Wool – 54 yards.

It has purple in it – and will match my coat.  It’s not a very long scarf (it is folded over in the photo) but I think it is perfect for just around my neck with a cute pin holding it together.

Friday Fill-ins…June 24, 2011

FFIAnd…here we go!

1. Getting away on a vacation is really important to my sanity.

2. Eating a good breakfast is the best way to start your day off right.

3. Coffee, tea or hot chocolate…that’s a pretty good third choice.

4. I use a colander with a lid on a pan of hot water in place of steamer basket.

5. The lights at the casino were beautiful – whoever designed their lamps was very talented.

6. Think happiness.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to WII bowling here at the apartment complex, tomorrow my plans include working around the house and Sunday, I want to relax and maybe get my balcony all finished!
