Bloggers’ Quilt Festival…Fall 2011…

Amy'sCreativeSide

I thought I would show the Bargello Quilt I made this past year as part of the Bloggers’ Quilt Festival.

Bargello Beauty as I call it was made in a class at my local quilt shop.  While I doubt that I will ever make another one – I did enjoy the process of making this quilt.  I entered it this year in our local fair and won first place…

Disappointing $17.50…

Yep – that is the cost of the movies here in Claremont…and I went to the 4:00 show on Friday.  Of course, that price included a soda and pop corn…but, still…

I did see FOOTLOOSE – and I have to say I am in-between being a little disappointed and totally disappointed.  Julianne Hough was good – she’s a terrific dancer.  The new guy – well, he didn’t even hold a candle to Kevin Bacon…He wasn’t believable to me.  Dennis Quaid – totally unbelievable.

The dancing was good – but, not much else…at least not for me…

Am I glad I went – Yes – cause now I know that the Original FOOTLOOSE was the BEST FOOTLOOSE!!!!  Feel free to agree or disagree…

Book…Dishcloth…

I belong to a great group on Ravelry – and each month we trade a book and dishcloth.   The type of book this month was a cookbook.

My swap partner was a gal named Julie – and she sent me:

Is that not the cutest dishcloth!  It’s in the shape of a candy corn.  I loved it…as well as the cool “teas” that she sent.

The cookbook is The Pleasures of Cooking for One by Judith Jones.   She lives part-time in Vermont.  I am so excited to try her cookbook!

Thanks, Julie!

Friday Fill-ins…10/14/11…

FFI

And…here we go!

1. It’s easy to do something well when you know how.  I love knitting socks – but, until I worked out the anatomy of a sock –  I was really stumped.

2. Oh, my darling, Oh, my darling, ClementineSometimes you just have to go with what hits the brain first!

3. Once upon a time, Isn’t that going to be a new tv series?

4. I don’t want to discuss my need to be more compliant when taking my meds – I’m doing a lot better … the end.

5. What is dress code these days for weddings?  Might need to know that!  Not for me – but for a friend who might be tying the knot.

6. It all comes out in the wash sooner than later.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to maybe going and seeing FOOTLOOSE, tomorrow my plans include working on my apartment and Sunday, I want to do some stuff around the house, relax and read!

Thanks to Janet, again, for the cool photo.  She has some of the best photos…

Asthma…

Yesterday, I missed posting – but I have to say I was not feeling well!

Went with a friend of mine to the Senior Center here in town to play a few games of Bingo.  While I was there, I was smelling something – but – it wasn’t affecting my breathing much.  At least that’s what I thought until I got home.  About half an hour after getting home – I couldn’t breathe very well – ended up using my rescue and later my nebulizer.

Seems that they changed carpeting over at the Center and the stench of it really got me.

Won’t be going back there any time soon!!!

To Go or Not To Go…

that would be the question…

You see – for me – Kevin Bacon is the only Ren that I know – and he was FABULOUS in the original Footloose.  I also, just loved Lori Singer in her role…

so, I am faced with a dilemma:

Do I go to see the new release of Footloose?

I do like Julianne Hough…

What do you think – do I go or do I not go????

Doctor day…Visiting Mom…

Today was my Welcome to Medicare Physical!  WOOT!  My doctor said every thing is looking good…She did put me on some new medicine – for cholesterol.  My cholesterol is good – 181 – but the bad one is a little high.  This is just a preventative – especially since I am diabetic.

After my visit with the doctor – I went down to spend time with Mom.  I am not at all sure that she knew who I was…but, she told me she is feeling really good.  The therapy dog (Tillie – a beautiful chocolate-brown lab) was there and I asked mom if she wanted to play with her – I got a resounding “NO”.  The nurses tell me she’s not big on dogs.

She told me that she was ready for lunch – and was hungry.  Her eating habits are real good.  She seems to eat 100% of her breakfast and lunch – but, dinner – not so much.  She seems tired by dinner time.  I guess I would be tired too if I were 95 and up at 6:30 every morning.  She loves her coffee – so she gets up early.  Then after lunch – there is a couple hour nap …

Her hair was cut last week and it looks really cute…and she is still enjoying her weekly massages and listening to her music.

Well, that was my day!  Now I’m off to bed and to read!
