Swag bag…

Each of us traveling to Canada for the knitting retreat is bringing a little gift to each of the others – therefore when we leave we will have a swag bag full of lovely things…

This is what I am contributing:

Included will be a hand knit washcloth (by me), a bar of some wonderful Cranberry & antioxidant Soap, and some picks that go into your holiday cupcakes..

Chose to knit the washcloth in a red and white since the Canadian flag is red and white…

Think it will still be a surprise as none of them read my blog…

Trip Planning…

Sometime in the near future, I’m meeting up with some friends in Canada!  How cool is that?

Six other Ravelry members and I are going to The Rockview Cottages.  Lots of relaxing by the lake … lots of knitting, weaving, and maybe crocheting.

We are planning a trip to the local yarn shop – After all what kind of road trip would it be if we didn’t stop and at least look at yarn!  And, we will be having dinner out one night.

The rest of the week we will be doing communal evening meals and everyone is on their own for breakfast and lunch!

My cabin will be Cottage #3 Pickerel and we will be using Cottage #2 for our daily meeting room…

AAA has given me a wonderful route and I’ll get to see places that I’ve never seen before!

Can you tell I am excited about going????  Still have a while – but, the planning is part of the fun part!!!

Weird Weather…

Correct me if I am wrong – Is this not January?  Is this not winter?  Then why do we have no snow in Claremont where I live?  And, why do they have just a little snow in the White Mountains – (Littleton, Bethlehem, and Whitefield?)  And, the cold and wind certainly feels like winter – just no snow!

The snow did not even cover my feet when we visited the Mountain View Grand.  But, we had a great time visiting their beautiful barn which was full of sheep, alpaca, goats, and llamas.  They were all so cute!

Scarlett and Elizabeth and I exchanged Christmas presents…Two of my favorite gifts were a scarf which was made by Elizabeth and a 2012 calendar that was made by Scarlett.  The calendar has some beautiful photos which she took – and special dates are marked.

They also gave me a few other things – including the entire series (three seasons) of Beauty and the Beast – starring Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman.  Can’t wait to watch it all again.

This week-end…

This week-end has been really busy!

My apartment complex had an indoor yard sale and bake sale…it was yesterday from 9 AM to 1 PM.  We did really well – and only have a few items left.  I will be opening the room on Tuesday after the community luncheon and offering up the remaining items for a donation.

Yesterday was also the Library book sale – you will be very proud of me I only bought two books and they are both for Christmas presents!!!

Today was St. Mary’s Penny Sale – these things are a hoot and I just love going to them.  It is an afternoon of fun and a chance to win some nice prizes for a cheap amount of money…

Then after that I went to the Open House at the Langwood Farm in Cornish.  It was so neat – and the view of the mountains was so awesome – lots of red, orange, yellow and green…

And, don’t you know I forgot my camera…but, I’m going by there in the next few days and I’ll take some photos…

WEBS…

The word says it all – 15,000 foot store and warehouse full of yarn…  Today, my friend, Marilyn and I drove down for a Ravelry meet-up with some of my friends from the Rigid Heddle Looms group.

We had a great demo with one of the women showing us how to use weaving software…

Here is another shot of the computer – it is attached to the loom…

So, I got to try the computerized loom – basically, you step on a pedal and the correct harnesses pop up for you…

Another shot of me working on the loom…

I really enjoyed working on this beautiful loom…

Then, my friend, Jeen tried her hand at the lovely loom…

After we left WEBS – we had a really nice lunch at a place called Sylvester’s … yummy carrot cake (we split a piece!!!)  Then we took Route 5 all the way home – and it was great to see all the nice towns in Massachusetts and Vermont – that are within two hours of my house.

It was a fun day … with lovely weather!

Lush…

That’s the word…not only the name of the store but the feel of this awesome shampoo bar.  I’m loving it…my hair is so soft and has some body.

I had a very nice visit at their store – Jackie, who works there and is so cool, showed me every single product and explained how they worked.   She even gave me a wonderful hand massage (which still is working – my hands are so soft!).

I was delighted that she helped me pick out a couple of products to buy – and then gave me a few samples of their soap and a face mask.  It was a fun way to spend an hour –

Where in the world was I…

Maybe this will give you a hint…

I’m standing in front of Tuscany – a wonderful restaurant at the Mohegan Sun!  That is an entire wall of water – it is a beautiful waterfall.

Actually, I took a bus trip with the Senior Center for a day of fun at the beautiful Mohegan Sun.  It is in Connecticut – approximately three hours away from home (one way).  I was up at 5:00 am to meet the bus at my local Wal-Mart parking lot at 6:00 am.

The trip cost $42.00 – but, they gave me the following:

$15.00 meal voucher, 3 – $5.00 tickets for the big wheel (which I did not win on), and a $10.00 free play in the slot machines.  I played on that $10.00 until 3:30 in the afternoon…when I kicked in $10.00 of my own.  So essentially the trip cost me around $25.00 out of pocket…

The first thing I did was head for Krispy Kream doughnuts – I haven’t had a Krispy Kream doughnut since I left Tennessee!  And, it was so good!

The casino is beautiful…as you can tell by the photos that I took while wandering around.

Lunch was at Margaritaville – and I wish I could say it was good – but, it wasn’t!

Walked up to the hotel lobby:  Just so pretty…

I’ve added the following seating area to my Christmas wish list – I think it would look awesome in my apartment…

Took some photos of Bobby Flay’s Bar American – but, they didn’t turn out very well…

So, I had a nice day – it wasn’t expensive.  But, it was long and tiring…but, I’m glad I went!
